RECOVERY COACH ACADEMY (RCA): JANUARY 18th, 19th, 25th, and 26th
TRAINING DESCRIPTIONS
THE RECOVERY COACH ACADEMY (RCA) is a 30-hour course and participants will earn 30 CEU's. This workshop is held over 4 days over two weekends to make it accessible to those who may work on weekdays. The RCA is an intensive training focusing on providing individuals with the skills necessary to guide and support anyone who would like to enter into long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs. Provided in a retreat like environment, the Recovery Coach Academy prepares participants by helping them to actively listen, ask really good questions and learn the basics of Motivational Interviewing (MI). This course will explore such techniques as the Stages of Change, Stages of Recovery, Active Listening, and more!

Hours: 8:30am-5:30pm.
Recovery Coach Academy participants will:
- Describe Recovery Coach role and functions
- List the components, core values and guiding principles of recovery
- Build skills to enhance relationships
- Explore many dimensions of recovery and recovery coaching
- Discover attitudes about self disclosure and sharing your story
- Understand the stages of recovery
- Describe the stages of change and their applications
- Increase their awareness of culture, power and privilege
- Address ethical and boundaries issues
- Experience recovery wellness planning
- Practice newly acquired skills
Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches is a 16-hour training that addresses the complex ethical issues that may come up in the work of a Recovery Coach. Participants will receive 20-CEU's for their attendance in this workshop. This course is required by many Recovery Support Worker Certifications and Peer Specialist Certifications. This training is designed to assist coaches, and anyone working in a peer role, to understand the ethical responsibilities while working in the Recovery Services field. This course uses presentations, small group work and role plays to define the Recovery Coach role and functions, coaching standards, issues of vulnerability, ethical decision-making, performance enhancement, and legal issues.
Saturday & Sunday December 14th & 15th, 2019- 8:30am-5:30pm.
Participants of the Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches Workshop will:
- Understand what ethics are and why ethics are so important when performing Recovery Coach Services
- Learn how to stay in your lane as a recovery coach
- Understand the decision making process
- Develop guidelines for making ethical decisions
- Apply the new learning to your every day work as a RC
